Sony & Microsoft offering refunds

In another twist to the ongoing Cyberpunk 2077 story, both Sony and Microsoft are now offering refunds for purchasers of CD Projekt Red’s latest game. The news comes as owners of the PS4 & Xbox One versions were less than satisfied with the game on the last gen consoles. Importantly, CDPR failed to show what the game would even look and play like on last gen, instead focusing the marketing on the XBox Pro/Series, PS4 Pro/PS5, and PC versions.

Sony, who didn’t have a formal refund policy in place, is now being forced to remove the game from its digital storefront until fixes are made to improve the quality, and has set up a special refund method for dissatisfied customers. That means that it is not even available to purchase the PS4 version on the PS5 — through physical copies are exempt.

The blow is a big one to CDPR, coming after several delays and a turbulent couple of weeks of excruciatingly bad press — the vast majority of which has been self-inflicted.
