Microsoft completes buyout of Bethesda

Will discuss what this means to certain gaming projects soon

Bethesda and Microsoft are now officially family. The companies completed the merger/acquisition process in the EU yesterday, prompting confirmation from both sides. Bethesda will bring DOOM, Dishonored, Fallout, Elder Scrolls and more IP to the Microsoft Studios family, many of which have been popular on the Xbox platforms for decades already.

Now, it’ll be the premiere place to play these games, as well as potential exclusives in the future. Bethesda posted the neat little video (up top) showcasing its decades of history in game development. While Microsoft didn’t go into too much detail itself, it expects a small announcement this week about additional games coming to its Gamepass service, and more talk about exclusives in the future. Starfield? Elder Scrolls VI? Indiana Jones? It’s unknown if any of these will be exclusive to the Xbox console or not — contract/licensing terms haven’t been revealed — but we’ll possibly find out more in the coming months.

E3-ish is just 3 months away, after all.
