FPS stands for Fast Paced Sorcery

Humble Games and developer Nullpointer Games have announced Into the Pit, a retro-ish FPS rogue-lite that mixes elements of magic and demonic battles. The game was announced as a part of the Xbox Gamescom lead-up presentation.

In the game, players will be tracking their missing cousin, who seems to have fallen into demonic pit. Bummer! Thankfully, armed (pun!) with their familial line’s sorcery powers, they can take on the ever-shifting Hell using a combination of dual-wielded spells.

The game will let players rescue villagers than have also fallen in, in hopes to grow their town and open new storefronts, abilities, and more. This should keep the death/rebirth aspect of the rogue-lite fresh each time as players build up their skills. Further, by collecting and utilizing runes and keys, the dungeons can be adjusted and explored in new ways.

Into the Pit will land on Xbox, Xbox PC, and Steam on October 19th.
