SIFU reveals live action short, collector’s edition

Drop-kicking your wallet and your eyes

The release of SIFU is just around the corner (we’ll have our thoughts up soon in a review!) but until then you can sink your teeth… err, eyeballs into this promotional video for the game. The 8 minute live-action short film follows a man out for revenge; using his fists and feet, he leaves a path of destruction along the way to finding his father’s killer.

The game lets players live out their close combat martial arts dreams as a student on a warpath, with cinematic action from the developers behind the acclaimed Absolver. Our reviewer Zach says of the game: SIFU is one of the most rewarding games I think I have ever played. The stylized visuals layered on-top of a behemoth amount of intricate animations are paired with a thoughtful combat system that truly challenges the player in intense moment to moment gameplay segments. The way the game mechanics and story work in cohesion to bring a kung fu revenge epic to life is masterfully done. (You’ll see the rest of the review shortly.)

Though the short film is titled “At The Cost Of Time” there’s also another cost to factor in: that of the collector’s edition of the game, which was also just announced. The video below serves as both a launch trailer and an enticing glimpse at the editions, which are coming to both PS4 & PS5. They’ll include the game, art book, digital soundtrack, 3 lithographs, and a steel case.

The physical editions of the game launch May 3, while SIFU hits PlayStation and Epic Game Store tomorrow, February 8th.
