Street Fighter VI coming 2023

Street Fighter VI coming 2023

The fighting game introduces a new hub to the series

Street Fighter VI (6!) is on its way, and it’s bringing a ton of new things along with it.

The typical fighting modes that we’re used to in the games– multiplayer, ladders, etc — will remain in the the section titled Fighting Ground. But two NEW modes will also debut, as firsts for the series. World Tour will bring a cinematic single player story experience, a la what NetherRealm has been doing with Mortal Kombat and Injustice. Battle Hub will focus on communication and interaction between players, and although it wasn’t explicitly described it could be considered as a sort of meeting place.

Maybe even a metave— wait, no, we won’t say it.

Four characters are known so far: Chun Li, Ryu, Luke, and new fighter Jamie. All characters have been redesigned, and the game will feature new control types for those who want to focus less on button presses and more on the actual battle on screen. It comes off as a little Smash Bros inspired, in that holding a special attack button + direction creates the move.

Interestingly enough, the game will also feature real time in-game commentary, so you can feel like you’re at EVO even when you’re in your basement on your lunch break. Commentary is planned for both English and Japanese, with subtitles in 13 langauges.

Street Fighter 6 (VI!) launches 2023 for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC Steam.
