Splatoon Raiders sets its sights for a July release

Single-player (and co-op) action ink up this Summer

It has been radio silence sign Nintendo had announced Splatoon Raiders with a tease last year. Little was known about the Switch 2 exclusive other than it would be different than the traditional multiplayer match focus of the series. This morning Nintendo finally gave us the vital info we needed, announcing the game’s premise and date.

And yooooo I’m so hyped.

I’m a massive, massive Splatoon fan. I’m SideQuesting’s Splatoon god, having put hundreds of hours into the series since its Wii U inception. It’s a mainstay of our home’s gaming, with both my daughter and I engaging often in the SplatFests. I’m not the greatest in online battling, preferring the single player stuff, but I’ve been all in.

This latest game will be changing that, as it will push more of a single player experience. Splatoon Raiders bills itself so in order to finally flush out a full adventure. The series single player modes were essentially a series of novel and excellent puzzles strung together by a loose plot, but Raiders looks to really focus on the action and adventure that someone like myself has been pining for. In this latest game, players will take control of the Mechanic as they “raid” the Spirhalite Islands for treasure. The series’ Salmonids are back as the main villains in this game, which has players jumping around islands and aquatic themed stages across a map.

Up to four players can take on the world together via local or online co-op, but if players go at it alone then one of the members of the in-game band Deep Cut will join them.

Splatoon Raiders is coming to MY NINTENDO SWITCH 2 on July 23rd alongside new amiibo for the Derp Cut trio that will most definitely sit on the shelf behind me during podcasts.
