Two great tastes that go great together?
Bloober Team has had a good weekend of licensed announcements, huh? The narrative and horror dev announced two new games that are based on some surprising properties, and sure to make fans go a little wild.
On Friday at Summer Game Fest the dev announced SAW: Genesis, a prequel to the film franchise.
SAW is one of the most quintessential modern horror franchises, and a prequel is ripe for ideas. Set in the aftermath of World War 1, the game stars a sadistic Judge who is hellbent on putting people, The Accused, in precarious situations. The game is a 3v1 asymmetric multiplayer experience that will have players work together to escape or take control of the Judge and use secret passageways to put people through hell.
It’s coming to Steam early access later this year.
On Saturday the dev revealed a game set in the Star Trek universe named Star Trek: Shadow Frontier. The game, in association with Paramount Game Studios, will star Ro Laren (from Next Generation fame) as she crashes onto a mysterious planet that’s home to a ship graveyard, weird creatures, and some sort of entity that basically wants to wreck her mind.
It’s Bloober and it’s psychological horror, and it’s Star Trek? Cool! The game will launch in 2027 on Xbox, PS5, PC and Switch 2.
