From DC to Apple TV, sci-fi to Lord of the Rings — we’re eating!
SDCC is here, and that means TONS of announcements for movies, TV, comics, games and more, and we’re doing our best to collect some of our favorites. There’s a lot to look forward to in the coming year, so saddle up, get seated on the couch, and watch all these clips!
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power
Alert Alert! We have The One Ring! And some new characters! The show returns on November 11, 2026.
Blade Runner 2099
We’re heading back into the cyberpunk/cybernoir future of Blade Runner as the new series lands on Prime on November 25th. It’ll be fully tied into the lore and history of Blade Runner before it, so NO FUNNY BUSINESS.
Neuromancer
Speaking of futures and tech, William Gibson’s incredibly prescient novel is being turned into an Apple TV series. It arrives on January 22, 2027 on the streaming platform.
Dark Matter
Dark Matter is quietly one of the best Multiversal ideas we’ve come across, and now we’re officially getting Season 2 on Apple on August 28.
Matchbox: The Movie
Jooooohn Cena! is in a movie about Matchbox. The cars. The Hot Wheels nemesis (until Mattel bought them all). It looks like a thing, speeding onto Apple in October.
Coyote vs ACME
Speaking of John Cena, the dude is also in WB’s Coyote vs ACME, which is FINALLY coming out of WB’s hellish practices to land in theaters on August 28. GO SEE IT.
Lanterns
WB owns DC, and with it comes Lanterns. We have our biggest, most actual trailer yet! The show lands on HBO Max on August 16.
Clayface
Also coming from James Gunn’s DC is Clayface, and boy oh boy are we happy to see a horror-based comic book movie that has actual horror content in it! It arrives on October 23 in theaters.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day
With just a few days until release, we now have our final Spider-Man trailer, titled Peter’s Journey. It’s oddly looking back on the hero as if we’re about to see his end, or at least the end of his current, uh, journey?
Other Mommy
Tom Holland is having a good month. Not only is his Spider-Man sequel about to hit, but he’s also in the OTHER gigantic film of the moment, The Odyssey. Folks who have seen the movie know that there’s a trailer ahead of it for Jessica Chastain’s upcoming horror film, Other Mommy. It looks FREAKY.
It Ends
More horror! NEON’s liminal-like It Ends lands in theaters on August 21st. Stay away from forests.
The End of Oak Street
Listen, dinosaurs can be horror too. Just ask the family stuck on Oak Street. The film hits theaters in a couple of weeks, on August 14th.
Mobile Suit Gundam RG XARX-ZERO
We obviously love anime and big robots, and Gundam is all of that. Bandai Namco has announced Mobile Suit Gundam RG XARX-ZERO, a tie-in to its games, is in production and arrives in 2027.
