Remember a while back when CBS revealed the first teaser image of its newest show based on Supergirl? The one that the internet was up in arms about it? (Well, to be honest, when isn’t the internet up in arms about something?) It was just an image, and yet it was enough to spark comment.
Well, get ready for a full conversation now as CBS has released an over six and a half minute trailer video showing the world what Supergirl would actually look like and feel like.
And I liked what I watched.
I would give this show a shot. Granted many probably have always dismissed the show because of that initial image, but just like DC other two series, Arrow and the Flash, Supergirl has a lot of potential. In fact, those shows debuted with slightly cheesy trailers, and Supergirl has some of the same people involved with it. I haven’t been following her recent comics but I may have to now. (Thanks to a hefty backlog, I just have a lot more comics to try and keep with up in the process.)
But I will say this: this is an important step for female superheroes on TV. If the show becomes a success it will definitely tell Marvel that they are behind the times with their viewpoints about female superheroes as leading ladies — success here could very well impact the upcoming Captain Marvel film.
Personally I am hoping more shows like this will follow, and maybe we can even get a new Wonder Woman show, if not just a film.
