Streets of Rage 4 announced, brings the fight back with retro influences

In the battle for street brawler supremacy in the 90s, Final Fight and Streets of Rage faced off at the highest levels. Now, the classic SEGA series looks to make a comeback.

Streets of Rage 4 has been announced for modern consoles. Developers DotEmu, Guard Crush Games, and Lizardcube are working together to bring the classic fighting game to the masses, along with updated music and visuals. The new art direction style is much closer to that of a cartoon, which was what the original game had intended waaaay back in the day. This is in no small thanks to Lizardcube, as they were responsible for the recent Wonder Boy remake.

The game has no specific platforms yet, or a release date, but there *are* beards. Images and video: DotEMU
