Dead As Disco is a novel rhythm take on beat’em ups with a stunning presentation, and Sam is gaga over it.
It’s still early in the development of Dead As Disco, relatively speaking, but what the developers have created already is a solid start. The game is a mix of third person brawling action and music rhythm, and can appeal to fans of both.
If we’re into the music rhythm aspect there’s a great soundtrack and gameplay that brings it together. We can also bring in our own music, which is a neat feature. From the brawling side it has some great action with familiar movesets like quarter turns alongside timed attacks and holds. There’s even an RPG-like tree that can unlock more attacks and abilities as we progress. There’s not much of a plot right now, but what writing is there is pretty enjoyable and funny.
The game’s developers, Brain Jar Games, have a good road map of content ahead as they head towards a release. It’s early and Dead As Disco might not be for everybody, but for a cross section that loves music rhythm and thrd person action then this might be a great experience to look forward to.
