2K signs Tiger Woods to sponsorship deal

The King of Swing is (back) IN THE GAME

Tiger Woods is back in video games. Though he’s appeared here and there in some capacities, he hasn’t been fully involved in a golf game since Tiger Woods PGA Golf 14. Back then, EA Sports was still on top of the golf world — until the following year, when Tiger’s troubles pulled him from the EA sponsorship and Rory McIlroy took over for 2015, effectively ending the series. Sorry Rory, your skills weren’t enough to keep the series going for more than one game.

Now, Tiger has inked a long term deal with 2K, publishers of PGA Tour 2K. The deal was announced online, alongside the news that 2K was buying the development studio behind 2K21, HB Studios. This is good news for fans of the sport, as golf games have seen a recent resurgence in pop culture. With PGA 2K21 arriving to stellar reviews, and Mario Golf on the horizon, it’s looking up. Maybe even up as high as a Tiger Woods swing.

Yes, that was a bad joke, and I’m ashamed.
