Biomotor Unitron, the classic NEO GEO Pocket Color RPG, is out now

The R in RPG stands for ROBOT

The name “Biomotor Unitron” sounds like an amazing Transformers character, AND IT SHOULD, but in the case of video games it actually references a long-forgotten, yet still beloved, turn-based RPG. Decades ago, the game appeared on the Neo Geo Pocket Color as its first RPG, and now it’s finally making its way back via Nintendo’s Switch.

The game focuses on Unitron, robot/mechs piloted by humans, that face off against each other and against other beasts in a sci-fi fantasy alien world. It has hints of rogue-like adventures, where the dungeons and caves change appearance every time they’re entered, and players can change form of the robots as they gain levels and experience.

It was perhaps ahead of its time when it launched, and is not getting a second chance.

Biomotor Unitron lands on Nintendo’s Switch today.
