Fall Guys finally going Free to Play

Multiplayer chaos lands on new platforms on June 21st

Mediatonic’s popular multiplayer race-for-all is getting a new series of hyphens as it goes free-to-play. The company announced the news in a stream, showcasing the game as it comes to Epic Games Store, Nintendo’s Switch, Xbox, and PlayStation 5 (natively) for the first time. Through the addition of an Epic Games account (thanks to the purchase of Mediatonic last year) players will be able to enjoy cross-play and cross-progression across all of the different platforms.

The game is currently available for PS4 and Steam, launching in August 2020. Steam users may be hitting a bump, however, as the game will no longer be available for new purchase. It *will* be updated alongside the other platforms, so if you already have it then you don’t have much to worry about at the moment. Current owners of the game will receive a “legacy pack” that includes a custom title, costumes, and more — as well as a season pass for Season 1 of the F2P version.

The developers also teased a stage builder, but that’s still a long ways off.

Fall Guys excelled during the early part of the pandemic, but the shift to new consoles may reinvigorate it further.
