Toss a coin to your streamer

It’s been a busy week for geek pop culture, as Netflix showcased a ton of new projects and updates that it has on the way. The biggest is possibly the stuff around The Witcher, which includes two shows on the way.

First, the streamer revealed that The Witcher Season 3 is hitting the service in Summer 2023. That could be anywhere from June to September, but we’re hoping for earlier.

Speaking of earlier, fans won’t have long to wait for The Witcher: Blood Origin, a prequel series to the main show. Blood Origin will land on December 25th — Merry Christmas! It takes place thousands of years before the story of Geralt, during a time known as The Conjunction of the Spheres when humans were first brought to the world they live in now.

Netflix also announced an anime series based on Capcom’s Onimusha games. Set in the Late Edo period, it will be a historical action drama mixed with some fantastical elements, as is the nature of the game series. There’s no release date yet for the mixed 2D/3D CGI series.

Finally, an ACTUAL trailer was released this weekend (and it wasn’t for a Netflix game-based property). Platinum’s NieR: Automata has debuted the teaser for its upcoming anime series at Aniplex. NieR: Automata Version 1.1a will be a spin-off of the game, serving as a sort of alternate story. It’ll arrive in January 2023.
