Squad-based defense and attack against space bugs

Offworld Industries, the dev team behind Squad and Beyond the Wire, have announced their latest FPS project. Starship Troopers: Extermination takes players into the world of the STILL DOPE 1997 film as a Trooper in the Vanguard tasked to take on the space bugs. The hook is that, like Offworld’s other games, there will be a LOT of players involved.

In Extermination, teams of 12 players will battle hordes of enemies, build defensive bases, search for resources, and advance — all with the hopes of wiping out the menace. There will be three classes and a giant map, and players will need to survive, push, and make it to the extraction point.

It certainly FEELS like what Starship Troopers is — hectic hordes, big squads, and a crazed environment — so there’s a glimmer that the developers understand their source material.

Starship Troopers: Extermination arrives in Steam Early Access in 2023.
