Tucker Hazell and Abram Buehner get into the weeds about games and game design with Back Log Banter

Summer Game Fest is a great time for finding out about and playing games, and meeting publishers and developers. But it’s also fantastic for networking and that’s something I really look forward to each time. This year I had the pleasure of meeting a ton of great folks, whether they are veterans or newer to the industry. At the JW Marriott lobby bar, the congregating spot during the evenings of game events in LA, I had the chance to meet Tucker Hazell. Hazell and his friend Abram Buehner have been plugging away at YouTube channel Back Log Banter for a while now, creating some really interesting gaming content that I immediately found entertaining.

The channel focuses on informative reactions to gaming news, interviews with developers, and inviting those developers into special Dev Dives. It had an interesting start, Hazell tells me. The two friends had over time stopped talking as often about games, so to get back in touch more frequently they started the YouTube channel to discuss their hobby. For nearly 5 years the duo has put out on average at least video per week, and the momentum isn’t slowing down. Summer Game Fest especially led to a lot of great content and interviews, including today’s video interview with Randy Pitchford.

What does the future of the channel hold? Hazell explains that he’d love to make fully featured documentaries, discussing games and the histories of the studios behind them. He’s passionate about educating people on what goes into the creation of video games, and relaying that information to the audience that loves those games would be full circle.

Back Log Banter can be found on YouTube and has a huge library of content already.
