Insert pun about Marathon’s game development timing here
Well, color us unsurprised. After a less than optimal response to play sessions and general public viewpoint, Bungie has delayed the launch of its upcoming game Marathon. The studio is claiming to have heard the “passionate” fans, and is putting in the extra time needed to make the game all it can be — whatever that is. Bungie will be working across the board, with the first three areas of focus being the gameplay, social features and visual design (even better tying it back to the original trilogy).
There were big issues with the game from the fan side, with those three points being just a part of it. Some of the ire was aimed at the game going live service, and some at the lack of respect for the original trilogy. Most recently it was found that the developer had been stealing designs from an artist and used directly, without so much as adjusting them, and not providing any reason why.
Bungie has stated that they’ll be back in the Fall with an updated launch window for the game, but with the extensive work that it looks like it’ll need I wouldn’t be betting on a launch this year any more.
