Mortal Shell II announced to bring more shells and more mortals

Go to shell with the sequel to the body-stealing action RPG

Mortal Shell was one of the early big non-FromSoftware soulslikes to crack the market in the early 2020s, bringing an interesting husk-acquiring gameplay mechanic to the genre that we liked. It must have done well enough on the market because developer Cold Symmetry and publisher Playstack have officially announced a sequel.

Mortal Shell II is the direct sequel, although playing the original isn’t necessarily required to understand it — the game is an Action RPG that has players taking on challenging enemies while exploring an open world. To gain skills they’ll have to come across the husks of fallen warriors and essentially acquire their souls, opening up unique capabilities.

The sequel promises to maintain that while also making a bigger world, improving the visuals (BETTER BUTTS!) and expanded combat and weapons designs. It’s essentiall More Mortal More Shell.

GOOD.

Mortal Shell II hits PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC sometime in 2026, with a beta launching earlier that year.
