Bond is back with a bangin ballad

It’s been a minute since we got anything James Bond related (hurry up and make a casting announcement, Amazon!) but while we wait for the next film we do have the upcoming 007 First Light on the way. The game, by IO Intteractive, is set to launch next month follows a young, inexperienced Bond as he learns the ropes before becoming the world’s greatest spy.

There’s one mainstay in all of this: every James Bond thing has to have a title sequence with a kick-ass ballad, and First Light is no different. The song “First Light” is performed by Lana Del Rey and written and composed by herself & David Arnold, who scored five Bond films from 1997 – 2008.

The song has the sultry tones of Bond movies past, and evoking some of the mid-90s and early 2000s tunes. IO also released a video diary about the soundtrack’s development.

For the game, Irish Actor Patrick Gibson is playing the role of Bond for the first time, and looks to kick some bad guy butts — probably with the song playing in the Aston Martin.

007 First Light is due to hit major platforms on May 27, 2026.
