Trailer Thursday: The Grinder and Gladiator AD

I love movie trailers.  I love game trailers too, but in a different way.  Game trailers tend to be mash-ups of gameplay video… and that’s about it.  When game trailers are well-designed and tell a bit of the game’s story, or at least why I should buy a game besides the graphics, I take notice.

With that said, once I saw the trailer for The Grinder at E3, I immediately felt as though this was a game I wanted to try.  The Left4Dead comparisons are there, as are some nice “wild west”-style overtones.  Four-player online co-op on the Wii?  I’ll take it (and about time, too).  Werewolves, vampires and dudes with axes?  Count me in.  The graphics of the game look great, too, and not just for a Wii game, proving that High Voltage have a knack for puching the little white console’s limits.

High Voltage bring us not only The Grinder but also Gladiator A.D. for the Wii, a game about the brutality of, well, gladiators.

There is a newer action-intensive trailer for G AD out right now, but I felt as though this one told a bit of a story better.  Due in 2010, this could be a pretty gruesome and bloody action fighter.  The character designs are highly detailed, and there is blood.  Lots and lots of blood.

Wear some protective glasses, because after these two trailers you might be wiping the splatterings of blood and monster juice from your brow.
