The Evening Report: Birthday Day Edition

Today is SideQuesting’s second birthday. Two years ago we spawned from nothing (well, I spawned from nothing about six months ago, but that is a different story for a different day) to create a site dedicated not only to video games, but the nerd culture that surrounds them. We put an emphasis on the readers and the industry because we do not operate in a bubble, but instead a crowded main street. Without the other sites, companies and most importantly you, the readers, we wouldn’t exist at all. That is the cliched but still honest truth. I will try to repay you tonight by dropping some knowledge bombs on you guys:

Free copies of Mass Effect 2, cheap Rock Band 3 and Anonymous back to what they know best.

On this day of days, the group that calls themselves ‘Anonymous’, decided to launch an attack against Sony because of their lawsuit against now infamous hacker George Hotz. According to Anonymous, Sony’s actions “have been deemed an unforgivable offense against free speech and internet freedom” So pretty much Anonymous decided that the best response to their pudding being stolen was to kick the offender in the balls. Play nice, children.

Gameloft is a prolific creator of game rip-offs. Their latest effort,Fast Five: The Movie: Official Game follows the company’s style as it rips-off Split/Second of the iOS persuasion. I honestly don’t care how good or bad this game is. I simply urge everyone to not buy it as it any purchases will only encourage their blatant thievery that exists in every game they create.

Rock Band 3 was released last October to grand reviews, but was met with relatively poor sales by consumers selling just over one million copies since launch. Six months later, Harmonix is reacting by dropping the game to $19.99 across all three systems. If you have been holding out for the right time, I would wager that right time is now.

BioWare is happy that you buy their games. So happy in fact, that if you have purchased a new copy of Dragon Age 2 on any platform they are offering you a free copy of Mass Effect 2. So, if you have somehow not played the best game that was released last year, then you should probably get to buying Dragon Age 2 if for no other reason than to get a free copy of Mass Effect 2.
