Delay Season: Cyberpunk 2077 (again), Prince of Persia (again)

Happy New Year to your wallet

It feels like we just went through this last week, doesn’t it? The delay bug is biting like crazy right now, although that’s generally expected this time of year. As the calendar shifts closer to the holidays, dev teams are doing their best to avoid crunch and put out a great product, but that can often (and rightfully, IMHO) mean pushing back the release of a game. And this week saw a bunch of ’em.

Cyberpunk 2077 is getting another delay, this time in the form of its DLC and smaller content updates. Everything that was planned for 2021 on its remaining roadmap is now pushed into 2022. The company revealed the news with an updated roadmap, which you can find here. This will include hotfixes, DLC, and the big push into New-Gen consoles.

Those hoping to hop across time into nostalgia with the Prince of Persia will have to wait. The Sands of Time Remake, which was revealed last year, has been delayed out of 2021. It will now land in 2022. The game will join The Division: Heartland, a free-to-play spin on the series, and Rocksmith+, the next in the guitar-learning/jamming game series, into an unspecified date. The timeframe for all three is “by the end of the next fiscal year,” which spans March 2022 – the end of March 2023. Another Ubisoft delay is with The Division 2 proper, which will see a delay of its next big content update and season to an unspecified date.

Devolver Digital and Flying Wild Hog have announced that they’re pushing back the action-adventure game Shadow Warrior 3 to next year. The game was set to launch this year (at some time) but now will launch next year (at some time). The news was revealed through a cheeky, self-referential video.

Finally, Digimon Survive has been delayed from, uh, 2019 (?) into 2022. The game, a take on the monster party genre, was set to finally give a stronger push up against the likes of Pokemon, but now that will have to wait. The publisher, Bandai Namco, revealed the news via social media.
