Disney reveals Illusion Island, Mickey’s next 2D adventure

It’s not a castle, it’s a whole island of illusion

During its D23 games showcase, Disney and developer Dlala Studios revealed their new game Disney Illusion Island. The project harkens back to the Castle of Illusion and Magical Quest days of Mickey Mouse games, with emphasis on platforming and puzzle-solving. The spin this time is co-op, allowing up to four players to hop into the adventure together via couch co-cop. Players will select from Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy on their quest across several worlds to rescue three magical books.

The game takes on the style of the modern Mickey Mouse animated shorts, with hand-drawn visuals and hard “sharpie-like” linework. We’ve been thoroughly enjoying the shorts in our household, as they mix a lot of humor and a little edge into the Mickey formula.

Disney Illusion Island arrives in 2023 exclusively to Nintendo Switch.
